School holidays in the Whitsundays
The Whitsundays is THE place to go for all Australian families looking for a fun yet relaxing break during school holidays.
With Airlie Beach’s ‘village town’ feel, beautiful weather and endless activities, the area is perfect for families of all ages wanting to escape the slighter colder southern states and get some sunshine! On the Airlie Beach mainland, there are many things to do with endless beaches, camping locations, rainforests and bushwalks, public lagoon and park facilities. And, you just have to head out around the Whitsunday Islands and the Outer Great Barrier Reef reefworld pontoon!
There are things you just have to do in the Whitsundays such as snorkelling around the inner island reefs, visit Whitehaven Beach and bushwalk up to Hill Inlet Lookout! And there are many day trips which do this, so you are sure to find one suited for you.
When you aren’t exploring the islands and reefs below the surface, head back to Airlie Beach for a dip in the lagoon or check out the NEW inflatable swimming playground. If you are more into checking out the scenery, there are also scenic flights over the Whitsundays Islands, Whitehaven Beach and Heart Reef, or day trips which take you around the Whitsundays mainland so you can get a glimpse of the whole area.
There are many family-friendly restaurants, parks and facilities, and we can help you out with family-friendly accommodation, such as Coral Sea Resort, Sunlit Waters or Seastar Apartments, to name a few.
