Learn to Scuba Dive in the Whitsundays
The Whitsundays is the perfect aquatic destination to experience your scuba dive where sightings of giant mauri wrass, colourful clown fish and exotic coral formations are guranteed.
By why not take it a step further and gain a scuba diving qualification while in Airlie Beach?
More and more foreign and domestic travellers are choosing this region to become a certified diver with its calm, sheltered waters, high water visibility and huge mass of amazing fish and coral species below the water line.
So how do you enrol in an open water course?
The first thing is to research which type of certification, either PADI and AUSI, is best for you. We recommend researching both organisations yourself.
What is involved in the course?
The PADI Open Water Course is a 4 day course involving 5 pool training sessions, 2 days of theory, followed by 2 day trips on a local onboard dive boat. All equipment is included and instruction is by a trained professional with just 6 students per class. By the end of the course you will be a confident and certified open water diver.
Alternatively you can enrol in the AUSI Open Water Dive Course which consists of 5 days, inclusive of 2 days of pool skills and theory and a 3 day/ 3 night trip to the outer Great Barrier Reef onboard a mega yacht. This course is popular as it allows students to dive on the outer Great Barrier Reef and the chance to experience a night dive. The course has a maximum of 4 students and is conducted by AUSI trained professionals.
