The Whitsundays Embraces TEQ's 'Holiday Feeling' Campaign
Tourism and Events Queensland is embracing “That Queensland Holiday Feeling” by launching a nationwide video campaign, encouraging viewers to visit Queensland.
The video features tourism hotspots across the sunshine state, with holiday-makers in each location singing along to a reimagined cover of Madonna’s 1983 hit song, Holiday. The feel-good video was created in early May by Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) to boost tourism across the state.
Regions highlighted include the Gold Coast, Brisbane, the Outback, the Daintree Rainforest, K’gari, and of course, our very own Whitsundays.
About 'That Queensland Holiday Feeling' Campaign
The aim of the campaign titled, That Queensland Holiday Feeling, is to encourage those across Australia to choose Queensland as their next holiday destination. The minute-long video opens with Australian singer, Kita Alexander (who covers Madonna's song) sitting in traffic in the rain dreaming about being on holiday. It then cuts to different shots of people (including herself) holidaying in different locations across Queensland, while the song plays.
With over thirteen diverse tourism regions within the state, the video shows off each and every one, while appealing to all audiences. From snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef to exploring the Daintree Rainforest to bike riding along the Gold Coast's beaches, the video promotes Queensland's favourite destinations!

When is the best time to book a holiday to the Whitsundays?
The best time to visit the Whitsundays is during the late winter months! Winter in the Whitsundays is unlike winter in the south of Australia. The skies are blue, the temperature is warm, the rain has passed, AND the whales are here! Between July and October is when we recommend booking your trip to the Whitsundays. Not only has the rainy season well and truly passed, stinger season has too, which means that it is a lot safer to swim in the water.

The Whitsundays has accommodation to suit every type of traveller. There are backpacker hostels, luxurious beachfront resorts, family-friendly apartments, island retreats, cozy AirBnbs, caravan parks and much more.
Airlie Beach is arguably the hub of the Whitsundays and is where you’ll find the majority of the accommodation. Neighbouring Airlie on the mainland is Cannonvale, Proserpine, and Bowen - all of which have motels and resorts you can stay at (and they’re probably a tad cheaper than being in the centre of Airlie). Your other accommodation option would be the Whitsunday Islands. Hamilton, Daydream, Long, and Hayman are all home to resorts in which you can stay on.
