Yes! It is a short and relatively easy walk from Whitehaven Beach to Hill Inlet Lookout!
From Tongue Bay, on the northern side of Whitsunday Island, it is a short 250-metre walk to Whitehaven Beach along the Beach Track. In the middle of this pathway is a track junction, where visitors can choose to veer off to the Hill Inlet Track, which is a 700-metre short uphill loop. Visitors can explore Whitehaven Beach or Hill Inlet first and then continue on the circuit track to reach the other, and vice versa. The bushwalk is relatively easy and suitable for all ages, with a combination of professionally maintained boardwalk and gravel pathways leading through lush native vegetation.
With signs along the pathways, visitors can learn about the unique and sacred lifestyle of the Ngaro People, the Traditional Owners, and their past, present, and future connection and care of the land and sea.
Hill Inlet is best viewed on low tide, as the breathtaking fusion of colours emerge as the tide shifts! Depending on the tide your tour guide will either take you to Hill Inlet or Whitehaven Beach first, to ensure you experience the sparkling mosaic of shifting silica sands and turquoise lagoons at its very best!
