Airlie Beach Aqua Parks
After taking the Gold and Sunshine Coasts by storm, the Whitsunday region has introduced two exciting playgrounds which float on top of the water and are catered for fully-grown adults. Airlie Beach is now home to two aqua parks which are floating just off the town’s mainland, in calm, warm waters of the Coral Sea.
Despite only coming about in recent months, both parks have proven that they are a hit among the township, with families, locals and visitors having a try on the inflatable courses. The parks have also become an asset for tourism and add an extra ‘thing to do in Airlie’ particularly during school holidays, long weekends and during cruise ship visits to the region.
One of the parks, known as the Airlie Aqua Park, is located near Port of Airlie Marina’s Beacon’s Beach and features a stinger uni-net closure around the area which provides extra protection. The newly-opened facility also features a dedicated Mini Park for children aged one and over and allows parents to play with their youngsters with 50 minutes sessions available. This park, which spans to some 60m2, is open 7 days week (weather dependant) from 7am until 6pm and is patrolled by lifesavers.
Meanwhile the Airlie Ride & Slide, which is separate to the other park, is situated on the south west edge of the Airlie lagoon rock wall, outside the Broadwater carpark. It spans to 45m2 and features a safety ring that excludes boats and other marine traffic from the area. It be located in the middle of town and has been open since April. Tickets include a life jackets and sessions times are set.
Both water parks are made of inflatable modules and can cater for up to 65 people at one time.
