Whitsunday Region Wins Big At Queensland Top Tourism Town Awards 2025
The Whitsunday Region has once again proven itself a top travel destination in Queensland, with multiple towns recognised in the 2025 Top Tourism Town Awards.
While our very own Airlie Beach came first place in its category for the fourth consecutive year, neighbouring town Bowen was crowned the Top Tourism Town for 2025. Further inland, Collinsville was named a finalist in the Top Tiny Tourism Town category, highlighting just how much this beautiful corner of Queensland has to offer across the region.
Airlie Beach named Best Small Tourism Town for fourth year in a row
It's no surprise to us locals that Airlie Beach has been awarded first place in the category of Best Small Tourism Town - for the fourth consecutive year! This charming coastal town is not only the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef, but a beloved destination in its own right among both domestic and international visitors.
Bursting with accommodation options for visitors of every age, lifestyle and budget, impressive restaurants to suit every taste, a buzzing nightlife scene, and some spectacular swimming spots, Airlie Beach is the perfect setting for a tropical getaway.
Whether you're setting sail to Whitehaven Beach or embarking on an awesome scuba adventure, chasing an adrenaline rush or simply sunbaking at the lagoon, Airlie Beach has something for everyone - and continues to be recognised for its excellence! Second and third places in the Top Small Tourism Town category went to Agnes Water and Kilcoy, respectively.
Bowen crowned Queensland’s Top Tourism Town for 2025
Just north of Airlie Beach, Bowen has landed the title of Queensland's Top Tourism Town, beating out other popular destinations like Stanthorpe and Redcliffe. This scenic beach town is home to beautiful secluded coves and bays, thriving snorkelling and diving spots, and of course, the iconic Big Mango - be sure to try some of the delicious local produce while you're in town! All this and more has helped Bowen quietly grow into one of Queensland’s most loved coastal gems.
Collinsville recognised among Queensland’s Top Tiny Tourism Towns
Adding to the Whitsunday region's success, Collinsville was named as a finalist in the category for Top Tiny Tourism Town category. While the top prize went to The Town of 1770, just south of the Whitsundays, the recognition puts a well-deserved spotlight on this historic town.
