Whitsunday Coast Airport Signs Five Year Deal With Jetstar Airlines

The new five-year deal between Whitsunday Coast Airport and Jetstar Airlines will likely increase traffic into Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday IslandsJetstar is aiming to increase passenger numbers by up to 30% compared to 2024. To achieve this goal, Jetstar is improving their systems in a couple of ways.

Increased passenger numbers

One way that Jetstar will boost traffic to the Whitsundays is by increasing the number of passengers on their flights. Jetstar’s larger A321 aircraft will be carrying more passengers, thus allowing more guests to fly to the Whitsundays.

Improved flight schedules

Jetstar will also be running consistent, frequent flights to the Whitsundays from major Australian cities. There will be daily flights to Melbourne, up to 11 weekly flights to Sydney, and up to 10 weekly flights to Brisbane. This enhanced schedule will ensure that the Whitsundays stay connected to Australia's main travel hubs every day.

Cheaper fares on the horizon?

This collaboration between Whitsunday Coast Airport and Jetstar will likely lead to cheaper airfare, though nothing is guaranteed yet. Increasing capacity on flights into the Whitsundays may lead to increased demand and therefore more competitive fares, which could mean cheaper prices or more flash sales from Jetstar.

Savvy travellers will have to keep an eye on their flight tracking apps to see what happens!
