1. Airlie Beach Lagoon
Centrally located, the Airlie Beach Lagoon is a popular place to cool off with a swim, get a tan, take the family or just chill out in the shade. The lagoon is surrounded by tropical palm trees and sand and looks over the ocean to create a perfect view of the islands.
2. Abell Point Marina
With its recent facelift, Abell Point Marina is a popular location for both boat-owners and non-boaties with its array of restaurants, retail shops and incredible view of the marina and aqua-coloured Coral Sea. Abell Point is also a part of the Bicentennial Walkway and is just a short walk from the main street of Airlie Beach.
3. Port of Airlie marina
Located right near the Airlie Beach Main Street, Port of Airlie is also home to the maritime terminal to transfer to/from the islands. The marina features the Coffee Club and other top notch restaurants as well as retail outlets, and is a lovely place to visit with a great view out to sea.
4. Whitsunday Sailing Club
Undoubtedly home to the best view of the ocean from Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Sailing Club features a broad balcony, perfect for having a meal or a drink as the sun sets over the horizon. The club includes a bar and bistro, poker machine room and is a hotspot for yachties, locals and travellers alike.
5. Bicentennial Walkway
A must-do while in Airlie Beach, the Bicentennial Walkway connects Airlie Beach and Cannonvale and runs through Abell Point Marina (where most boat trips depart). This is an enjoyable, relaxing walk which offers a fantastic panoramic view of the ocean. The walk is easy and minimum physical ability is required.
6. Saturday Lions Markets
Get a sense (and taste) of the Airlie Beach locals with a huge variety of stalls on offer at the Saturday markets. Held between the main street and the Whitsunday Sailing Club, the markets create a colourful, vibrant scene right beside the beach with plenty of food stores, entertainment, nikity-naks, home-made treasures and more on offer.
7. Boathaven Beach
Right beside Port of Airlie and nearing the Whitsunday Sailing Club is a beautiful, man-made beach called Boathaven Beach. The sight is a great place for everyone to visit with a swimming enclosure and plenty of space for a picnic, sunbaking and relaxing with a view of the glorious waters of the Coral Sea.
8. Whitsunday Pavilion
This traditional Balinese hut is owned by the Whitsunday Sailing Club and when not in use, is the perfect place to see the sunset over the horizon. Located beside the club, it is easy to see why the pavilion is a popular wedding location with its close proximity to the water.
