Team of sailors out on the Whitsunday Waters during Race WeekKiss - WSC

The 37th Airlie Beach Race Week is well underway, as locals and visitors enjoy the hubbub of competitive sailing and a vibrant social scene ashore. Hosted by Whitsunday Sailing Club and supported by key sponsors including 74 Islands Distillery, the regatta has once again drawn sailors from all over Australia and the globe to race among the islands in the first half of the week.

With varied winds, the opening weekend saw steady knots powering fast runs through the Whitsundays, but Monday brought lighter and more unpredictable breezes that challenged competitors. For some divisions, we saw big leaderboard shifts, while for others, the week’s early momentum continues to hold strong.

The atmosphere off the water is just as lively as on the water. From dockside debriefs to crew dinners in town, the events and Airlie Beach itself have both been buzzing. The multihull divisions in particular have turned heads, with crews showing both speed and versatility in shifting conditions.
