Whitehaven Beach is a mysterious geological wonder

Whitehaven Beach’s sands are a bit of a puzzle. While the shores are made up nearly entirely of silica, there are no silica deposits nearby. Geologists believe that ancient currents and volcanic activity are responsible for the 7km stretch of silica sands found on Whitehaven today!
