Whitsundays Wins #1 Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 5 Islands in Australia & the South Pacific
The iconic Whitsunday Islands have been voted #1 in the prestigious Condé Nast Traveler’s Top 5 Islands in Australia & the South Pacific category as recently announced in their 32nd annual readers’ choice awards. Taking the highly sought after spot is thrilling, although a no brainer to the locals of the region, confirming our suspicions that we truly live in one of the most beautiful destinations worldwide.
With the newly refurbished Daydream Island reopening, followed by the 5 star luxurious Hayman Island, the Whitsunday Islands are booming since being devastated by Tropical Cyclone Debbie in March 2017. Other island resorts still opened and operating include Hamilton Island and Long Island, with further renovations to many of the national park island’s walking trails such as the new lookout points on Whitsunday Island, home to Whitehaven Beach.
Other additions to the region include the new Heart Pontoon, the latest Ngaro underwater sea sculpture trail (a first on the Great Barrier Reef) and the announcement of a new underwater hotel on the Great Barrier Reef.
The Whitsundays has been fortunate enough to win other accolades in the past, such as the best beach in the world (Whitehaven Beach), the iconic Heart Reef, and luxury resorts such as Hamilton Island’s qualia taking out best resort in the world.
