8 Day Whitsundays and Fraser Island Flashpacker Combo

Day 1

Depart Brisbane for Noosa: Noosa Overnight

Start your journey in Brisbane, you'll make your way to the Brisbane Coach Terminal to catch the bus at 2pm to Noosa, where you'll arrive at 4:20pm and your East Coast trip of a lifetime begins! Enjoy a relaxing evening at Halse Lodge, where you will have time to repack for your Fraser Island adventure the following day. Enjoy everything the beautiful beach town of Noosa has to offer, including a vibrant nightlife right on the shoreline, complete with shopping against a stunning backdrop. Take a relaxing stroll through the Noosa National Park to check out the sunset from highlights along the rocky coastline such as the Boiling Pot, Fairy Point and Hell's Gates before tucking into some amazing cuisine along Hastings Street. 

Day 2

Fraser Island: 75 Mile Beach, Lake Wabby and Hammerstone Sandblow

Store your luggage with reception and indulge in some breakfast before your morning pick-up, where you’ll be briefed before heading over to Fraser Island at around 10:30am. Land on the famous 75 mile beach where you will get your first taste of sand driving in a comfortable automatic 4X4! Cruise up the beach as you follow your lead vehicle and discover your home for the next few nights at their exclusive wilderness camp, fully equipped with everything you need to glamp, including hot showers, toilets and powerpoints. After a filling lunch head to Lake Wabby and bathe in the emerald green waters while taking in the majesty that is Hammerstone Sand Blow. Settle in back at camp for the night and enjoy the cultural experience of didjeridoo demonstration!

Day 3

Fraser Island: Champagne Pools, Indian Head, Maheno Shipwreck, and More!

Start with a hearty hot breakfast before heading out to explore some of Fraser Islands best highlights. Head up to the bubbling Champagne Pools for a morning dose of vitamin sea before heading to Indian Head Lookout where you’ll be impressed by the 360 degree views. From here you can spot wildlife such as manta rays, sharks, sea turtles, and even humpback whales in the winter months! Next stop is the S.S. Maheno Shipwreck, a piece of history right on the beach! Finish the day cooling off at Eli Creek, best known for its crystal clear naturally filtered water which you can float down on an inflatable. Head back to camp for another night of socialising under the stars on the beach. 

Day 4

Fraser Island: Lake McKenzie, Central Station

Your last day on the world’s largest sand island will take you inland, where the soft sand will test your 4X4 driving skills - Don’t worry, you should be an expert by now! Head to arguably the most beautiful lake on the island, Lake McKenzie, where soft white silica sand and azure waters surrounded by eucalyptus rainforest will give you some incredible photos. Head up to Central Station afterwards for an informative talk about the history of settlement and logging on the island before losing yourself in ancient and impressive towering trees in this incredible forest. A quick stop at camp before heading back to Rainbow Beach, then on to Noosa for drop-offs. Check in to Halse Lodge and treat yourself to one of their Noosa’s restaurants after your Fraser wilderness experience.   

Day 5

Noosa: Explore for the Day, Overnight Bus to Airlie Beach 

Take a day in between adventures to explore Noosa! This quaint town has plenty on offer, from the shops and cafes on Hastings Street to surf lessons on the beach, SUP hire, and even an Everglades tour! Choose to do it all, or grab a book and relax on the beach with a book and top up your tan. There are also plenty of shoreline walks if you’re looking for a little exercise, or to grab some incredible snaps of the sunset! Hop on the 7pm overnight bus to the Whitsundays where the next adventure awaits! 

Day 6

Whitsundays: Arrive in Airlie Beach, Board Powerplay, Cruise to Paradise

Wake up in the Whitsundays as you arrive at the coastal delight that is Airlie Beach at 9:30am. Head to ABC travel before 11am to check-in for the next whirlwind adventure, this time on the high seas! After storing your luggage, enjoy the quaint Mainstreet for some lunch before heading out on your overnight charter at 12:30pm. Let your fun and experienced crew sail you out to the most stunning scenery as you weave in between the 74 Whitsunday Islands onboard the powered catamaran. Relax in their on-deck spa with a cold drink while you make your way to your overnight anchorage. Enjoy a delicious and filling smorgasbord with the company of your fellow passengers and enjoy stargazing or soaking in the spa. After dark enjoy the aft blue lights as they attract marine life at night, including squid, turtles and even dolphins!

Day 7

Whitsundays: Experience Whitehaven, Hill Inlet PLUS Snorkel the Reef

Wake up to the serene surroundings and look out for sea turtles as you have your breakfast before heading over to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. Regularly voted the best beach in Australia, Whitehaven will not disappoint with its 7 km of pure white silica sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. A short guided bushwalk up to Hill Inlet Lookout will give you the best photos of your East Coast trip, guaranteed! The swirling whites greens and blues make this spot the #3 most Instagrammed place in Australia, and for good reason! After plenty of time to relax and play on the beach, you’ll board Powerplay to head to some of the best snorkel sites in the Whitsundays, right in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. After an action-packed day, head back on board for another freshly prepared meal and enjoy social games, stargazing on the deck, the aft blue lights or soaking in the spa. 

Day 8

Whitsundays: Kayak, Stand Up Paddleboard, Swim and After Party

Wake up in paradise for one final morning, and take out one of their complimentary stand up paddleboards or kayaks as you get a new perspective of the reef. Head back to Airlie Beach by 11am and get ready for an epic after-party with all of your new friends - You certainly won’t want to hop on another bus after a legendary 7 days, so book an additional night in a hostel and let your hair down! Stay on in Airlie for a couple of extra days and enjoy some of the many day tour options to enjoy this famous region to its fullest. Take an adrenaline-filled adventure flight, Jetski Tour, or visit Cedar Creek Falls and a tropical resort for the day. The options are endless!
