6 Day Whitsundays and Fraser Island Style Combo

Day 1

Fraser Island: Lake McKenzie, Central Station, Lake Wabby, and More! 

Your Fraser Island experience will take you to all the highlights of the island in the comfort of a large air-conditioned bus, complete with informative commentary by your local guide. Departing Hervey Bay or Rainbow Beach, you’ll be whisked over to the island on a short barge before starting your journey at arguably Fraser Island’s most popular destination, Lake McKenzie. Unwind in nature’s finest with crystal clear azure waters lapping the white silica sand shores, surrounded by eucalyptus forest. Next, lose yourself in ancient rainforests as you stop at Central Station, Wanggoolba Creek, and Pile Valley before heading to Eurong Beach Resort for a scrumptious buffet lunch. After lunch head to Lake Wabby and Hammerstone Sandblow before turning in back at the resort for a delectable dinner and comfortable night in their spacious resort rooms with all the comforts of home. 

Day 2

Fraser Island: Champagne Pools, Indian Head and Maheno Shipwreck

Start your day with a variety of options at Eurong’s hot breakfast buffet, before boarding your bus to head to the fizzing Champagne Pools for a refreshing morning dose of vitamin sea, before travelling to Indian Head lookout where you’ll enjoy spotting wildlife from 360-degree views. Stop for a delicious buffet lunch at Cathedrals, then to the stunning sand formation that makes up the Pinnacles. Visit the famous S.S. Maheno shipwreck, a piece of history right on 75 mile beach and learn about its rich life at sea before it’s demise. Finish up at Eli Creek where you will have another chance to cool down in naturally filtered freshwater. Heading back to Hervey Bay, you’ll enjoy one of their many dining options and there are plenty of nice places to rest your head after a few days of exploring. Day 3

Hervey Bay: Explore the Town, Or Head North

From here, if you are travelling in your own vehicle, you can start to make your way up the coast to Airlie Beach. The drive takes about a day, however, you may opt to take your time and explore the coast on your way up. Your next tour in the Whitsundays departs daily, so as long as you are in Airlie Beach by 11am the day your tour departs, you can take as much or as little time as you please - The choice is yours! If you are travelling by bus, there is an overnight bus that departs daily at 8:50pm from Hervey Bay which arrives in Airlie Beach at 9:30am the following day, and there is plenty to see and experience in Hervey Bay for the day.

Day 4

Whitsundays: Arrive in Airlie Beach, Board your Catamaran and Sail into Paradise

Wake up in the Whitsundays as you arrive at the coastal delight that is Airlie Beach at 9:30am. Check-in for your overnight charter at ABC travel, pack a soft overnight bag and store your luggage for a small fee. Enjoy some shopping and lunch on the Airlie Beach CBD before heading to the marina at 3pm for your departure at 4pm . Depending on your departure date, you will either board Entice or On Ice, both comparable comfortable and stylish catamarans with all the creature comfort to enjoy the Whitsundays in style. Sail out through the 74 Whitsunday Islands and take in the serene scenery while relaxing on the bow nets, or indulge in a few cold beverages while you get to know your fellow passengers before anchoring off for the night. Indulge in freshly prepared gourmet meals onboard before turning in for the night. 

Day 5

Whitsundays: Experience Whitehaven, Hill Inlet, and Snorkelling the Reef

Wake up to the serene surroundings and look out for sea turtles as you have your breakfast before heading over to Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. Regularly voted the best beach in Australia, Whitehaven will not disappoint with its 7 km of pure white silica sand and crystal clear turquoise waters. A short guided bushwalk up to Hill Inlet Lookout will give you the best photos of your East Coast trip, guaranteed! The swirling whites greens and blues make this spot the #3 most Instagrammed place in Australia, and for good reason! After plenty of time to relax and play on the beach, you’ll board your vessel for some lunch before heading some of the best snorkel sites in the Whitsundays, right in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. After an action-packed day, head back on board for another freshly prepared meal and enjoy stargazing on the deck, reflecting on the perfect day you just had in paradise.

Day 6

Whitsundays: Authentic Sailing, Glass Bottom Kayaking, Stand Up Paddleboards

Wake up to a serene and protected bay for breakfast before setting sail again, and get involved with the crew to help raise the main, grind the winches, or tack and jibe your way through the passage. At your next anchorage, try something new with their complimentary watersports! The clear canoe is a great way to see the reef up close without getting wet as you paddle your way around the coral reefs below, and stand up paddleboards also offer a unique way to experience the reef as you make your way around, trying to keep your balance and having some fun in the sun! To top it off, you also now have the chance to add the "James Bond Factor" to your trip with the latest underwater sea scooter so that you can glide effortlessly through the water like the legendary secret agent. One final sail will bring you back to the mainland town of Airlie Beach by 2pm. With plenty still to do from the mainland, you would be remiss not to book a few extra nights at a resort, and take a scenic helicopter flight over Heart Reef, take a day trip over to Hamilton Island or Daydream Island, or book a guided segway tour! The world is your oyster, and the options are endless in the Whitsundays!
