You may be wondering which airport to fly into for the Whitsundays from Sydney. Proserpine (PPP) is the most popular option, as this tiny airport is just a 30-minute drive away from Airlie Beach. Often called the "Gateway to the Whitsundays", Airlie Beach is a charming coastal town on the mainland that is a hub for overnight sailing tours, day trips, and boat charters out to the islands. You can get a cheap and easy airport shuttle directly from Proserpine Airport to your accommodation in downtown Airlie Beach
