Where To Go In Airlie Beach
The biggest challenge you will face after arriving in the Whitsundays, is deciding what to do! To help, we have put together a list of our favourite places to visit in Airlie Beach.
1. Whitsunday Saturday Markets
The Lions markets are a must-do on a sunny Saturday morning, starting at 7:00am to approximately 1:30pm, Airlie Beach Lagoon. With up to 40 different stalls, you are bound to find something, from fresh produce, home-made trinkets, second-hand items, plants and more. There are great food stalls and you must try a famous Bowen mango Sorbet!
2. Whitsunday Sailing Club
Located near Port of Airlie, the Whitsunday Sailing Club is famous for its waterfront balcony view which shows of the magnificent Coral Sea and glistening boats moored offshore. The sailing club features a bar and bistro, poker machine room and a large outdoor balcony, perfect for dining with a view.
3. Airlie Beach Board Walk
This is a scenic walk along the ocean between Cannonvale Beach, Abell Point Marina and the main street of Airlie Beach. The boardwalk, which is very popular among locals and tourists, overlooks the yachts moored in Coral Sea and heads through Abell Point Marina, creating the perfect photo opportunity. This is a peaceful easy walk which takes approximately 30 minutes.
4. Boathaven Beach
Airlie's newest, man-made beach situated near Port of Airlie, is the perfect place for a dip or sunbaking with pristine sand and calm waters. The beach has a swimming enclosure, making it a safe and relaxing place for the whole family to spend a day in the sun!
5. Airlie Beach Lagoon
Perfectly positioned in the middle of the Airlie Beach Main Street, the lagoon is a great public facility and one of the most popular spots to socialise and relax on the mainland. Surrounded with luscious gardens, shared areas and overlooking the Coral Sea, the lagoon is an enjoyable place for a swim, sunbath or to have a meal with plenty of seating and tables to choose from. The facility includes a baby's pool, a toddlers area and a larger, deeper lagoon.
6. Botanic Gardens
Situated along the waterfront of Cannonvale Beach, the Botanic Gardens is a new project in the Whitsundays. This is a brisk, relaxing walk along intertwining pathways, surrounded by a natural environment with Australian native bushes and trees. Along the treks, you will spot some of the special features including creations by an Airlie Beach artist and a donated nautical buoy which had been washed and found. This track is popular for walkers or just those who want to enjoy a lovely walk through nature with shaded areas provided along the way.
7. Breeze Bar
A Sailing Whitsundays favourite, Breeze Bar is the newest, trendiest cocktail bar perfectly positioned overlooking the main street of Airlie! With a great social vibe, variety of exciting cocktails and amazing canape options, Breeze Bar is a hit among locals and visitors wanting to really delve into the village atmosphere of Airlie beach, and sitting outside is a must.
