Summer
December, January & February
Summer in the Whitsundays consists of minimum temperatures around 24° C and highs of 31° C! Typically extremely sunny, warm and often humid, Whitsunday summers are delightful, but also very hot, making sun safety very important. Summer in the Whitsundays is also the wettest season, with brief tropical showers usually occurring in the afternoons. Nevertheless, blue skies, balmy days and calm waters are all particularly spectacular during a Whitsundays summer!
Winter
June, July & August
Minimum temperatures of 18° C and highs of 25° C are seen in the Winter, and the sun is shining more days than not! A surprisingly beautiful time to visit the Whitsundays, the Winter provides warm days, crisp nights and the lowest levels of rainfall. Unlike Winters in chillier parts of Australia, the sub-tropical Whitsundays boast clear, crisp days and glassy, refreshing waters still warm enough for swimming and exploring the Great Barrier Reef!
Autumn and Spring
Autumn and Spring are also just beautiful if you can afford a mid-term getaway… the days are the perfect combination of warm, clear and sunny! As transitory seasons into both summer and winter, you’ll get the best of both worlds. Indeed, it has been said that Spring’s September is the best month for a holiday in the Whitsundays, as it includes Humpback Whale sightings, cool yet sunny days and little rainfall all the while escaping the busy school holiday periods and stinger season! However, every month in the Whitsundays has something different to offer, so head on out to our slice of paradise to discover the wonder for yourself!
Our selection of locally operated, unique sailing experiences are designed around the weather. Itineraries are organised depending on tides and prime conditions so that you get the most out of the Whitsunday waters no matter what the season! And, to get the most out of your Whitsunday sail, we offer a range of decadent overnight tours, bound to have you living on island time as you soak up the island bliss and wake up to the gentle sound of crashing waves against your boat’s hull!
The Whitsundays are your oyster, whenever you want or can make it to our slice of island paradise. So, get booking, pack your bags and breathe in that salty air in no time!
