Tourism and Events Queensland has come up with a clever way to show off the sunshine state of Queensland to encourage global visitors to visit - by using Bluey!

Bluey is a children’s Australian animated television show with a worldwide audience streamed in over 60 countries. The main character, Bluey, is an adorable dog from Queensland. Therefore Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) has deemed Queensland as being ‘Bluey’s World’. The campaign promotes iconic destinations like the Great Barrier Reef, the Gold Coast, and Brisbane as parts of Bluey’s Queensland home.

The main goal of the TEQ campaign is to draw attention to the beauty of Queensland and convince families to enjoy this magnificent state like Bluey does!

What is the Bluey Campaign in Queensland?

The Bluey Campaign, hosted by Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ), is designed to bring more tourism to the stunning state of Queensland in Australia. With 9.2 million dollars going into the campaign, it’s the biggest campaign that TEQ has hosted in more than a decade.

Because Bluey has a worldwide audience that consists mostly of families and young kids, the Bluey Campaign is directed at families across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Japan.

Bluey’s Keepy Uppy game in real life

A major theme of the Bluey campaign is the real-life game of Keepy Uppy. This is one of Bluey’s favourite games in the TV show, where she and her friend Bingo take turns keeping a red balloon in the air. To celebrate the launch of the campaign, TEQ broke the world record for the largest real-life game of Keepy Uppy. Complete with large red balloons and over 700 participants, people of all ages joined into 3 official games. With one on Brisbane’s South Bank, one on Main Beach in the Gold Coast, and one on the Cairns Esplanade, it was a major sensation in Queensland!
