Hemingway’s restaurant opens in Airlie Beach
A new restaurant is opening in Airlie Beach and promises a dining experience unlike any other. The new Ernest Hemingway inspired restaurant, aptly named Hemingway’s, will offer guests a fine dining experience that the owners say can’t be found elsewhere in Airlie Beach.
The new restaurant is located at Abell Point Marina, one of the main launch points for boats travelling in and out of Airlie Beach. With a view of the boats and Coral Sea directly out front, Abell Point marina provides one of the best views in Airlie Beach. The restaurant’s namesake, famous author Ernest Hemingway was an award winning writer who is famous all over the world and was known for his love of the sea. He was not only a yachtsman, but also a fisherman and often wrote about the ocean, with one of his more famous novels as The Old Man and the Sea. The restaurant intends to reflect his lifestyle, which is notably also reflected in the Whitsundays itself, centred around the ocean.
Owner Paul Darrouzet says the lifestyle his restaurant will reflect is one that his customers would really envy, which is one that Hemingway himself lived. The menu will feature modern Australian cuisine with a twist, taking inspiration from places that the restaurant's muse lived and travelled, including Cuba, South Africa and Europe. Customers can expect to see things such as seafood, lamb and beef on the menu for an amazing culinary experience. They will also serve an exceptional range of wines, paired with the range of dishes on the menu.
Customers will also be regularly treated to live music performed by a pianist on a baby grand piano and the owner says the restaurant has “great people, a great location and access to beautiful food,” creating much anticipation within the community. The grand opening for the restaurant was 12 May, 2017.
