Sample Itinerary

You'll get to enjoy the best of the Whitsundays and Outer Great Barrier Reef travelling on board the beautiful Kiana. Not only will you get to sail, snorkel and dive through the inner fringing reefs and Outer Reef, you'll also get to visit icons such as Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet Lookout, and Hook Island. You'll get to bushwalk and enjoy the beach, as well as take part in some authentic sailing.

Kiana visits all the best locations in the Whitsundays during your amazing three-day tour. Your crew will choose an itinerary based on the tides and weather conditions to make sure you make the most out of your tour and have the best experience possible.

Whitehaven Beach
You will spend an afternoon on the iconic Whitehaven Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The pure white silica sands will stay cool under your feet as you explore around, taking the time to walk some of its 7km shores. Voted one of the best beaches in the world and the best in Australia, it is a favourite stop in the Whitsundays.

Hill Inlet and Whitsunday National Park
Your trip on Kiana includes a guided bushwalk through the Whitsunday National park and a visit to the spectacular Hill Inlet Lookout. Guests will get to visit the famous lookout and see the amazing and mesmerising swirling sands below, which are constantly changing and never the same. This is the second most photographed place in all of Australia and for good reason - the unique view is world-famous.

Diving
Diving is definitely a major focus on board, and our crew will ensure that even first-time divers feel safe and are able to enjoy the splendour of our magnificent coral reefs. The crew love to dive so much they want everyone to try scuba diving by offering the 1st scuba dive FREE! This will allow you to relax with the equipment, feel comfortable underwater if it is the first time, and of course improve your abilities for future diving. The crew on board are all fully qualified Dive Instructors and Divemasters. All the dive equipment is new and the boat also includes its own diving compressors. Please note that scuba diving is subject to age, medical questionnaire and conditions.

First dive: free
Second dive: $90.00
Third dive: $70.00
Additional dives: $50.00 (conditions permitting)

Hook Island
On this trip, you will visit some of the best dive and snorkelling site in the Whitsunday Islands, located at the north end of Hook Island. Sites such as Luncheon Bay, Mantaray Bay and Mackerel Bay will take your breath away. The beautiful soft and hard corals, diverse marine life and colourful finned residents provide the perfect playground for exploring, ideal for both snorkellers and divers. The gentle beach provides the perfect platform for first time divers, where they can ease themselves into the water.

Bait Reef
Bait Reef is the choice Outer Reef destination in the Whitsundays. It is totally protected under the Great Barrier Reef Plan of Management and is abundant in marine life and corals, ready to be explored. The natural lagoon provides a safe haven for overnight mooring and is an Eden for snorkelling and scuba diving. Bait Reef is about 2 - 3 hours beyond the islands and provides a picturesque journey, with an unbroken horizon and beautiful blue waters.

Whale Watching
During June through September, each year vast number of whales migrate from Antarctica to the Whitsundays to give birth to calves and to mate. The most common whale that you will see during this period are humpbacks although occasionally other types such as minkies can be spotted.

"Such a great combination trip! We had exciting sailing, vistas and time on Whitehaven beach, interesting scuba in among thousand-year-old coral, colorful snorkeling on top of the reef, and delicious food. One of the best parts was the people---Brent, Rome and Will, the crew, took excellent care of our every needs; our trip mates added much delight to our experience! Just be aware that when they say, 'shared double' it means you actually share a sleeping space, not just a bathroom. It worked great for us, but might not for everyone"

"We experienced an awesome time on Kiana! The crew is phenomenal. The skipper Brent is incredibly friendly, Will, the chef, cooks delicious food and Valerio is an extremely passionate and experienced diving instructor. The sailing was fun (altought we had quite some waves in the beginning), we saw Whiteheaven Beach and got to do multiple scuba dives - it was the perfect trip to the Withsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef!"
Dario A
"We Loved Kiana. Such a friendly crew and experienced crew. We were lucky we saw plenty of whales and dolphins and got out to the reef for the night. Our fellow crew members were fantastic and we all had a blast! Fantastic experience and couldn't rate it high enough. Great work team."
Raquel
"We did a 3 day/2 night sailing trip with the Kiana. This was the most magical experience. Saw loads of whales! The Staff on the boat were incredible, especially Sam the Dive Instructor who was very patient as I attempted to learn to Scuba Dive. He was also fabulous with my 14 year old who absolutely loved the experience. The Skipper ran a well organised boat & was great to chat with, while the cook put up some great food. I thoroughly recommend this sailing trip."
Jake
"What an exclusive way to dive on the Great Barrier Reef! The trip was wonderful and the crew were fantastic. The skipper was very enthusiastic and I think that is so important for these kind of trips."
Emma
"We were thrilled with our cruise on the MS Kiana. The snorkeling and diving at Luncheon Bay (Hook Island) and Bait Reef were spectacular and our walk and swim on Whitehaven Beach was fabulous... Our captain and crew were outstanding. They were cheerful, enthusiastic, encouraging, tireless and efficient...I highly recommend the MS Kiana and will definitely sail with Brent and his team on my next visit to the Whitsunday Islands."
Marco
"My father and I had a fantastic trip on Kiana. The captain and crew were perfect and it was a great mixed group of travellers. Kiana is one of the only boats in the Whitsundays that stays overnight in the Outer Great Barrier Reef and it was awesome waking up there to go for an early morning snorkel and scuba dive. Highly recommend the trip to others and hope to do it again myself in the future."
Sameer
"The islands are marvellous. We went on the Kiana boat for a 3 days, 2 nights sailing tour. The crew was very welcoming and experienced, the food was great as well as the diving lessons. We saw turtles, sharks, and the outer reef and corals, being the most beautiful part of the trip!"
Marco
"Had a wonderful time. I was really impressed by the crew who worked incredibly hard to ensure we had a memorable trip. Whitehavens reputation as one of the worlds most beautiful beaches is well deserved and the crew did a good job pointing out the wildlife including rays, sharks and goannas. It was also such a thrill to be able to overnight on the outer reef and diving with turtles with be one of the highlights of my life. The food was tasty and plentiful with lots of snacks to keep up going between meals. "

"I did the 2 Nights/3 days Whitsunday and outer reef sailing and diving tour on the wonderful Kiana. Brent, the captain, and the crew were looking after us extremely well and went the extra mile to make our stay unforgettable. Even the owner of the boat joined us for the introduction briefing and was at the wharf when we returned. Whitehaven Beach lookout is a must see and the dive sites were great! Thank you all for the wonderful memories!"
Richard
"The 3 day, 2 night sailing trip on Kiana should be experienced by as many people as possible and I am more than happy to spread the word. The boat has all the amenities you could possibly ask for, and you go to some spectacular places and do some incredible snorkeling and diving, but the highlight for me and my wife was the incredible crew. The skipper made sure we made it every where safely was taking an interest in each of us and sharing with us some great stories. Always had us laughing. Candace made sure we had lots of time for a scuba and was patient and a great teacher for anyones first time. Meredith cooked up incredible food and always made sure we were full. We always felt taken care of and were always have a great time. If you get the opportunity you cannot go wrong with Kiana for an incredible trip with amazing people. Kiana is very lucky to have this crew."
Pooley
"We had the most wonderful 3 days aboard the kiana. The captain Brent and his crew were fantastic. Brents knowledge of the sea and his gripping stories were one of the highlights of the trip. The boat itself is beautiful and maintained to a very high standard. We dived and snorkelled the outer reef and saw turtles and many amazing fish. I highly recommend this boat for anyone looking for a fun, safe adventure on the Great Barrier Reef."
Steph
"My absolute favorite boat in Airlie. Older vessel with an awesome crew. Been on it 3 times and never regret a one. Bit more pricey but its definitely an upgraded experience. 25-40 professional crowd with max of 14 passengers makes for a quieter holiday. Goes to the outer reef, all the dives and adventures within the islands are amazing as well!"
