Season 2 of Netflix's Down to Earth with Zac Efron Visits the Great Barrier Reef
Hollywood heartthrob Zac Efron made waves on the Great Barrier Reef earlier this November as he brought the next season of his Emmy Award–winning show Down to Earth down under.
Down to Earth: Down Under spans eight episodes in length and follows the starry-eyed sex god and his wellness guru buddy, Darin Olien, to various Australian locations to investigate sustainable solutions to earth’s imploding ecosystems Good looks, bulging guns and a passion for sustainable living? It’s enough to make us sweat more than the climate crisis!
Efron and Olien zero in on the environmental factors facing the health of the Great Barrier Reef’s coral systems and what conservationists are doing to sustain and restore its health. Turns out Zac is a longtime diver with over 15 years’ of experience exploring waters all over the world, and — as a surprise to no one — the Great Barrier Reef has been his favourite dive site so far. ‘I’ve never seen coral that alive and thriving,’ he said ‘So many different colours!’
Where Did Zac Efron Stay on the Great Barrier Reef?
When asked about his recent stay on the Great Barrier Reef, Efron had nothing but high praises to sing: 'I will relive this moment in my head forever and ever. It’s truly one of the coolest experiences of my life.'
So where exactly did one of the coolest experiences of Zac Efron's life take place? Cruise Whitsunday’s Reefworld. A tropical pontoon permanently moored at the Outer Reef’s Hardy Reef, approximately 72 kilometres from the pristine sands of Airlie Beach. Zac isn't the only voice singing praise for Reefworld. The luxury destination recently took home two gold trophies for Major Tour Attraction and Unique Accommodation at the Whitsundays Tourism Awards.
Reefworld is the only accommodation of its kind on the Great Barrier Reef. On top of daily dive and snorkel reef tours using the Reefworld pontoon as a homebase, Cruise Whitsundays also offers two very unique overnight experiences for those looking for something a little extra special.
Reefsleep guests have the opportunity to sleep under the stars as they shine down on one of the world’s seven wonders, wake up to the sun spreading its orange warmth over the cool, calm waters, and snorkel and scuba in seclusion.
For those really wanting to sleep like a celebrity, checkout the Reefsuite. Efron himself slept in the Reefsuite for the shooting of Down to Earth: Down Under's Great Barrier Reef episode. This unique accommodation features floor to ceiling windows looking out into the deep blue waters of the Great Barrier Reef! To misappropriate an old phrase, you’ll be sleeping with the fishes as you will have truly died and gone to heaven.
Follow in sexy, sustainable Zac Efron’s footsteps and see the underwater wonderlands surrounding Reefworld bursting with colour and life for yourself!
