Wonders of the Whitsundays Campaign 2022

The $1 million Wonders of the Whitsundays campaign has just been launched with expectations to support and enliven the Whitsunday tourism industry. Following an economically tumultuous two years and coming into low season, there has never been a more opportune time to support local businesses and tourism in our beautiful region.
The previous Wonders of the Whitsundays program delivered $12 million in sales to local businesses and operators, with high hopes and impacts on the horizon for the current 2022 campaign. With funding from both the federal and state governments, the Australian Government under the Recovery for Regional Tourism program through a $1 billion COVID-19 recovery fund and Tourism and Events Queensland have made this campaign possible.
The campaign aims to attract domestic holidaymakers to the Whitsundays region from within Queensland, as well as from Victoria and New South Wales. With Australian icon Karen Jacobsen featuring in promotions across multiple platforms. You may notice the Wonders of the Whitsundays campaign across television, cinema, Spotify, content partnerships, social media and digital mediums.
After a long two years of COVID-19 induced economic losses for tourism businesses, the Wonders of the Whitsundays campaign will help local agents and operators continue to supply incredible holidays in paradise to our neighbours. And, with overseas visitors still not making their mass debut back in the Whitsundays just yet, this support is still fiercely needed. Indeed, it’s a great time for Aussie’s to enjoy the natural marvels at their fingertips before overseas travellers (and the crowds) come back in full swing.
Rick Hamilton, Tourism Whitsundays Chief Executive Officer, hopes that the Wonders of the Whitsundays campaign will maintain the Whitsundays as the “holiday hot spot for Australians.”
