When should I visit the Whitsundays?
Known as a tropical retreat, the Whitsundays maintains an average temperature of around 27 degrees throughout the seasons – making it the perfect place to holiday all-year round.
Understandably, the summer months December through to February are generally warmer (around 30 degrees) and also coincides with the wet season in Queensland, so there may be some rainfall during this time.
Typically, most trips will continue to run if it is raining as showers generally pass quickly, and only strong wind or weather conditions will stop a tour from operating on the day as per the skipper.
The temperature begins to cool off during autumn and the winter months between June to August to an average of 23 degrees, the perfect temperature if you are not used to the tropics! This also means this is a busy travel period in the Whitsundays, with the days being crisp, the Coral Sea calm and the skies clear.
And the annual whale season which runs from May to September is the icing on the cake!
All day and overnight tours in the Whitsundays run throughout the whole year so when you travel is completely up to you!
