New campaign to promote the Whitsundays
The Whitsundays will see a new $1 million tourism campaign aimed at highlighting the beauty and appeal of the Whitsundays.
Following Cyclone Debbie, which hit the region on 28 March, 2017, forces have come together to encourage more Australians to visit these iconic locations. Tourism and Events Queensland, the Flight Centre Travel Group and Virgin Australia are said to be behind the endeavour, with the hopes to let the Whitsundays know they haven't been forgotten and to get more people visiting and enjoying the area.
The campaign will run for three months and will involve promotions and discounted fares supported by both Virgin Australia and Infinity Holidays. Selected accommodation in the Whitsundays, Gold Coast and North Queensland will be combined with airfares and a minimum night stay for discounts and promotions.
The campaign is meant to serve as a clear message that the Whitsundays are open and ready for business. With over 50 tourism operators in the region, the campaign will boost the local economy and also give tourists themselves a little more incentive to visit the stunning Whitsunday Islands. The first phase of the campaign will run at the end of May 2017 and will feature spots on TV, radio and online.
