Is There A Supermarket On Hamilton Island?
Hamilton Island is a dreamy destination located within the 74 Whitsunday Islands. Year round, it’s populated with honeymooners, families on holiday, bachelor or bachelorette parties, or friends on mid-week getaways. The world-class island has a plethora of sights to see, activities to do, and restaurants to dine in. We know that being on an island may sound as though you’re deserted, but on Hamilton Island you’re far from it. The island has everything you need to make your stay as pleasant and memorable as possible!
Hamilton Island’s Supermarket
To answer the main question - yes, there is a supermarket on Hamilton Island. Located on Front Street at the southern end of the Marina Village on the island is an IGA supermarket. The fully stocked supermarket offers a variety of fresh produce, meats, seafood, kitchen supplies, toiletries, snacks and more! It's ideal if you’re not staying at a resort with meals included or if you’d prefer to prepare your own meals on your holiday. The supermarket is plastic-bag free so we suggest you pack a light reusable shopping bag if you intend on taking advantage of the supermarket.
Hamilton Island’s supermarket is incredibly handy if you forgot to pack your shampoo, you want to save your dollars and make your own breakfast, you’re planning a picnic and want dips, crackers and cheese to indulge in as you watch the sunset, or you’re craving an after-dinner sweet treat. Hamilton Island’s IGA is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30am through to 7:00pm. The hours differ slightly on Sundays as it is 9:00am to 6:00pm.
You can also buy your own alcohol on Hamilton Island. There is a liquor store next door to the IGA named Hamilton Island Bottle Shop where you can purchase a range of alcohol from your favourite spirits to local and imported wine and beer. Definitely a good option if you don’t want to spend $20 for a singular cocktail each night (even though they are mouth-wateringly worth it)! The bottle shop is open daily from 10am to 7:30pm.
