Go Bareboating
Bareboating is when you charter a boat yourself - you navigate, live upon and run the boat for the duration of your vacation. There is no skipper or crew, just you, your family or friends, sailing upon the seas.
The Whitsundays are a top bareboating location due to the fact that it has calm, sheltered bays, breathtaking scenery and amazing coral reefs. Bare boating is a great option for those who want to sail or skipper their own boat and plan their own trip. Perks of bareboating include the freedom to do as you choose, as well as choosing the duration of your trip, independence and the thrill of skippering your own boat.
Bareboating offers guests the chance to do what they want, when they want. While there are limitations as to where you can go (these limitations are dependent on your agreement with your boat company, as well as permits), bareboating does offer much more freedom than a regular charter boat. You can snorkel, swim, sail or relax as much or as little as you want, choosing what you want to do during your days and nights. You get to plan your own itinerary alongside your family and friends, as well as eat when you please and cook what you want!
Another huge perk to bareboating is that you can choose the length of your trip. Many bareboats have a minimum number of nights you are allowed to rent a boat, often starting at 5 nights, allowing you to sail for as long as you want afterwards. This is a great alternative to charter boats, which often sail for no longer than 3 nights. Bareboating gives you the chance to spend an extended amount of time in the Whitsundays, sailing or cruising as much as you want.
You will have all the independence you'd want during your bareboating excursion. Bareboating allows you to cook your own meals and build your own trip as you please. You will provision your own trip, taking along any food or drinks you will need, mapping out your days as you would like. This freedom allows bareboaters to spend their days as they please, sleeping in or rising as early as they would like!
There are a variety of bareboats on offer in the Whitsundays. You can skipper a catamaran, yacht, or powerboat, with several different types of accommodation and number of bathrooms. There is something for every group, depending on the number of people and the budget.
Bareboating or self-skippering your Whitsundays trip allows you the freedom to do as you please while enjoying the beauty of the Whitsundays and all it has on offer. Find out everything you need to know about bareboating in the Whitsundays here.
