After Arriving in Airlie Beach

You have arrived in Airlie Beach, now what?

It is best to get your bearings of the town which features one main street and almost everything in walking distance.

Depending on how you have travelled to the region, you may need a transfer from Proserpine Airport (bus transfer) or Hamilton Island Airport (ferry transfer), which will get you to Airlie Beach.

As a bustling, village-like town, Airlie Beach features everything you need; from doctors and dentists, hotels and hostels, restaurants and bars.

There are plenty of local maps which can help with direction or you can simply use Google maps to get you places.

The most notable places to get to and from are the two marinas in town. Most overnight and day trips depart from Abell Point Marina which is in walking distance from the main street, along the Bicentennial Walkway. This is a scenic walk and takes approximately 20 minutes to get to the marina to catch your boat trip.

The other major marina is Port of Airlie Marina which features the maritime terminal for all ferry transfers to the islands. This marina is a short walk from the main street in the opposite direction to Cannonvale.

The third marina in Airlie Beach is Shute Harbour Marina which is around a 20 minute car/ bus ride from the main street. A small number of tours and ferries depart from this marina.

Before you embark on your boat trip you may need to stock up on supplies which can be done at the local Woolworths shopping centre located behind McDonalds restaurant in the main street. Nearby is a chemist and bottle shop.

As you walk along the main street of Airlie Beach you will also come across other necessities including doctors, hairdressers, post boxes, retail outlets and cafes.

The township also features a strip of cars and clubs and an array of restaurants and fast food places.

Most importantly, your boat check-in office is also located in the main street of Airlie Beach so please look at your ticket for the address.
