Frequently Asked Questions
What are the depart and return times?
Depart and return transfer times vary depending on the tides and weather conditions that day. Please contact us to enquire about exact times.
Do island transfers run year round?
There are no island transfers in February or March as this is peak wet season. But transfers run daily between April and January!
Can we hire kayaks?
Yes! Please enquire upon booking about kayak hire as these are organised through a different company. There is a $20 fee to transfer kayaks on top of the vessels.
Can we bring our own camping gear?
Yes, the camping equipment kits are optional for those who don't have their own gear. Feel free to bring your own, but be mindful of the space onboard the vessel. If you have a lot of gear, there may be an extra fee or you may be asked to leave some things behind so the vessel isn't too heavy.
Is it easy to hire camping equipment if we don't have our own gear?
Yes, if you don't have your own gear, you can hire a 2 or 3-person camp kit that includes everything you need! Add this option onto your booking at checkout. You can also hire individual camping items (see full price list in "Add-Ons).
Is drinking water provided?
We provide you with water containers that you may fill before departing. We recommend 5L per person per day.
Are Scamper vessels suitable for people with limited mobility?
The vessel is just one floor with a drop-down door that creates a ramp, with is ideal for those with limited mobility. It is wheelchair accessible, but note that some island locations are sandy and may not be suitable for wheelchairs. Because the Whitsundays are part of a National Park, you would also need a permit for assistance animals.
Are camping permits included?
No, you are responsible for booking your own camping permits on the Queensland National Parks website.
Where does the boat depart from?
The departure point and Scamper office is at Shute Harbour, Airlie Beach. There are trolleys there to help guests transport their gear onto the boat.
Can we have campfires?
Campfires are not permitted on Whitsunday National Parks beaches and campsites.
