Whitsunday Sailing Events 2016

As a sailing mecca, there is always something on the sailing calendar in the Whitsundays. Most events are hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club or Hamilton Island Yacht Club and visiting yachtsman are often encouraged to join in.

The Whitsunday Sailing Club also hosts a Wednesday twilight race every week which is a social, fun event where visiting yachties can join in.

Clipper Round the World Yacht Race Stop in the Whitsundays
January 13th

Airlie Beach Race Week – Festival of Sailing
11-18 August
A colourful 7-day long offshore regatta hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club. The event is ideal for IRC right through to cruising divisions.

Great Whitsunday Fun Race
20 August
A long-standing tradition of the Whitsunday Sailing Club, Fun Race is a race around the buoys with boats encouraged to dress up.

Hamilton Island Race Week
20 – 27 August
A 7-day long keelboat regatta with exciting sailing offshore and colourful onshore events, hosted by Hamilton Island Yacht Club.

Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club Rendezvous
An ever-growing fundraising event hosted by the Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club (SICYC) raising money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
