Booking a Tour after Cyclone Debbie

The Whitsundays is in recovery mode following Cyclone Debbie, which made its way through the Whitsundays 28 March, 2017. Some of the islands and boats were affected, which has in turn affected some preexisting guests who had trips booked in the area. If you had an island vacation booked, or were booked onto a boat that is no longer available, you might be looking for alternatives.

Here's what you can do to ensure you have the best Whitsundays vacation post-cyclone:

Check to see what's available

As some boat tours and resort islands were affected by the cyclone, it's a good idea to ask around and see what is available. You can start by asking our staff what is best suited for you, either by our online chat, via email or by giving us a call.

Daydream Island and Hayman Islands are due to be closed until late 2018 for renovations, with Hamilton Island currently undergoing minor renovations and its 5-star resort qualia is closed until July of 2017. While they will be back up and better than ever in no time, this may meaning having to choose a new route for your upcoming vacation. Opting to go for an overnight boat trip is a great option, with a variety of boats and tours available to guests.

Ask what is best for you

Most boats came out of the cyclone unscathed, with most others dealing with minor damages, leaving plenty of suitable trips for all types of travellers. Whether you're a backpacker, couple, honeymooner or solo traveller, there is a trip for everyone. Chat with our specialists and find out what kind of trip is best suited for you and your style of travel and we'll match you to your perfect trip.

Moving to a boating holiday

If you've previously booked on one of the resort islands and have had to transition over to a boating holiday, don't worry. You're about to have the time of your life. While the two types of trips do differ a bit, it's important to keep in mind that your boating trip will have you visiting all the best parts of the Whitsundays that you might not have been able to see during an island stay. Most tours will visit Whitehaven Beach, Hill Inlet Lookout and also allow you to snorkel, sail and see the sites. You’ll get to sleep on the boat and fall asleep and wake up to some of the best views in the world, snug into a calm anchorage where your fully crewed staff will take you for the night.

No matter what kind of tour or trip you take to the Whitsundays, you're bound to have an amazing time. It's beauty and untouched landscapes will entice any type of traveller to dive in, have fun and make lasting memories!
