Airlie Beach by day

Airlie Beach isn't just a night-life town. There are a huge list of options to keep you entertained throughout the day and some special sites and locations to visit. Some of the best things to see are located either in the main street or around it, which is great if you don’t have a vehicle.

Neighbouring the street is a brand new, man-made beach called Boathaven Beach is a great place to have a swim in the Coral Sea and soak in the sun rays. Alternatively, swimming in the Airlie Beach Lagoon is just as refreshing and the lagoon also looks over the ocean in a tropical setting. This is certainly a popular place to spend a few hours at least!

If you want to get back to nature and enjoy spending time outside, there are also great bushwalks through national forest and often lead you to a great lookout point which shows the amazing blue water and tropical islands. The most popular bushwalks are the Great Whitsunday Walk and the Honeyeater Trail which are just outside of town.

If you have a vehicle a scenic drive to Cedar Creek Falls, located on the way to Conway Beach, is a must-do while in the Whitsundays. This special place is hidden away in bushland and features a mesmerising natural waterfall which pours into a deep, crystal clear pool creating the perfect swimming hole. Flowing most times of the year, particularly the wet season, this popular water hole is great for the whole family and a great place to enjoy a picnic as well. Check out a local map to get directions to Cedar Creek Falls.

Other places to check out around the Whitsundays are Bowen and town of Proserpine, both within driving distance of Airlie Beach.
