Grandparents Week: 7th April 2014
It's time to switch off everyone's devices and switch on to good old fashion fun and games, during Grandparent's Week. Yep BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort does old school with good old-fashioned games for all generations to enjoy together.

You remember kite flying, knitting, biscuit making, scavenger hunts and water fights don't you? How about model and paper plane making, scrapbooking, bingo and mini golf tournaments? Then there's their special Park Olympics, pancake breakfast and their good ol' roast dinner night and movie night. So join them in their tropical paradise, for mega multi-generational fun!

Flickerfest Short Film Festival: 11th April 2014
As part of Tourism Whitsundays National partnership with ABC Open we will be screening local ABC Open shorts prior to the Flickerfest program at Airlie Beach PCYC.

Stamford Financial Hilly Half Marathon: 4th May 2014
Hit the long-distance running trail and be cheered on by the crowds on the annual Stamford Financial Hilly Half Marathon. Held each May, the challenging Stamford Financial Hilly Half Marathon follows road, fire trails and walking tracks through Hamilton Island's undulating interior.

Following a rugged 21-kilometre route uphill and down dale, the marathon puts individual and team relay competitors (3x7km) to the test. There are prizes for place winners, spot prizes and a less challenging kids fun run.

Welcome to the Bowen Family Expo: May 17th 2014
The Welcome to Bowen Family Expo will be held on Saturday 17th May at Cooinda Family Centre at 20 Williams Street, Bowen. We are celebrating National Families Week. If you are curious about what goes on in Bowen for families and what services are available in the Bowen community then come along to this vibrant, informative family expo. Free sample bags, monster cent sale, food and drinks available.

RSPCA Million Paws Walk - Airlie Beach: May 18th 2014
Come and join in the RSPCA's major fundraiser for the year - the Million Paws Walk! Bring your pooches, or even if you're just a dog lover, all are welcome. The walk will commence at Cannonvale Beach and wind around the foreshore along the boardwalk towards the marina and return back to Cannonvale Beach. More information to come.

Gatorade Clash of the paddles: June 12th 2014
Formerly the annual Hamilton Cup, one of the world's toughest outrigger canoe racing events, the Gatorade Clash of the Paddles is run over four exciting days, where competitive outriggers are joined by athletes from four other popular paddle disciplines; Surf Ski, Dragon Boating, Stand-Up Paddling and Board Paddling.

Capped off with an exciting off-water entertainment program, the Gatorade Clash of the Paddles is an oarsome event for every type of paddler.

Bowen Offshore Superboat Championships: June 21st 2014
For the very first time, Bowen will host its very own round of the Offshore Superboat Championships. Saturday will see the superboats competing for pole position and the main race action happens on Saturday. On Saturday night there be an opportunity to get up close to the boats during the Superboat Street Party! Head to Bowen for some amazing offshore action!

Airlie Beach Running Festival: July 20th 2014
The second Airlie Beach Running Festival will include the ever popular Half marathon distance (21.1 kilometres) plus 10 kilometres and 5 kilometre Fun Runs, plus a 5 kilometre Corporate Team Challenge. Airlie Beach is the mainland destination of the Whitsundays with easy access so you can enjoy more than just a race in paradise. The course showcases the beautiful coastline of Airlie Beach and surrounds, of which the Half Marathon is Race 3 of 5 of the inaugural ANQ Half-Marathon Series.

If you are looking to escape the southerly winter for a race in warm weather, where you can extend your stay and enjoy the pleasures that the Whitsundays has to offer - this is the race for you.

Rum Bar Regatta: July 25th 2014
The Rum Bar Maxi Regatta is an event that aims to 'open' Airlie Beach's premier month of sailing due in August of 2014. The event will have 10 classic maxi yachts come back to life with crew member spots to be bought by sailing enthusiasts, amateurs and/or general public that have no prior sailing knowledge or experience. The event will be the first of it's kind to be held close to shore, within visual range of spectators lining the shore of Airlie Beach. The event invites spectators to line the shores of Airlie Beach and recreational boating (spectator boats) will be a one in a lifetime experience.

Whitsunday Reef Festival: August 1st 2014
The Whitsunday Reef Festival is a festival full of family fun and largely free entertainment right in the heart of Airlie Beach.
The festival has something for everyone - enjoy starlight movies, the hilarious Comedy Gala and Frocktails Fashion Show. Make a Recyclable Raft and battle it out on the lagoon or create a sand sculpture on the beach. The kids will love the Telstra Family Fun Day for fun and games down on their beautiful foreshore as well as the carnival rides in the car park over the weekend

Don't miss their major events - Porters Friday Night Fireworks on the foreshore and the Rotary Street Parade where the whole community comes out in force to celebrate their fantastic north Queensland lifestyle. Live music will be playing and the bar will be open all weekend during Airlie's Main Street Party so come and party Whitsunday style!

25th Airlie Beach Race Week: August 8th 2014
The 25th annual Airlie Beach Race Week is set to be the biggest regatta to date in the Whitsundays. Hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club, sailors are invited to take part in the 25th anniversary celebrations in 2014.

The club encourages all new and returning participants to join in six days of sailing and seven days of unforgettable memories. The event runs in the same week as Whitsunday Reef Festival and the Great Whitsunday Fun Race.

Airlie Beach Race Week is the largest keelboat regatta off Queensland's mainland and the largest event in the Whitsundays. The event promises great sailing for participants and spectators, and the social atmosphere is just as vibrant.

Airlie Race Week showcases the beautiful Whitsunday islands and mainland and is now known as a world-class regatta.

25th Airlie Beach Race Week Social Calender
The Whitsundays comes to life with the vibrant social atmosphere of Airlie Beach Race Week - and the 25th anniversary of the event is going to be huge.
Airlie Beach Race Week offers plenty of colourful sailing to watch from Airlie Beach each day, as well as pumping parties and social activities after a day of racing.

The Great Whitsunday Fun Race is also held the day after race week, and everyone is encouraged to particiate and join in the fun antics on the water. Everyone is invited to visit the Whitsunday Sailing Club throughout the week. The full social calendar will be announced at a later date, but book your accommodation early and stay in Airlie Beach during this vibrant sailing event.

Audi Hamilton Island Race Week: August 16th 2014
Spectators and yachties from around the globe sail to Hamilton Island in August for Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, Australia's largest annual offshore yachting regatta.

Race Week is one of Australia's favourite yachting events and a firm fixture on the international sailing calendar. Competitors, family and friends come together to enjoy the convivial atmosphere and unique camaraderie of the event's on and off-water carnival.

Racing is split into various categories, from Grand Prix class for top-class racers, to IRC Passage class, performance racing and sports boat classes. More recently, the introduction of a Superyacht and SB3 divisions has added yet another dynamic to the event.

The Hamilton Island Yacht Club and marina are home to the regatta during the excitement of Race Week. Join in the festivities and lively calendar of events, including gourmet meals prepared by celebrity chefs, fashion shows, golfing competitions and wine tastings.

Family Film Night: September 27th 2014
We will be holding a family film night to fundraise for our sporting league. It will include the showing of a G-rated film (in accordance with national guidelines) and the sale of food and drink.

Whitsunday Writers Festival: October 10th 2014
The Whitsunday Writers Festival is a weekend event featuring talks from authors. There will be creative writing workshops, and on Friday evening we will have a show where guests can mix and mingle with the authors on an intimate basis. Saturday is a full day of talks and joining in panel discussions followed by dinner and a show. Sunday is a half day including lunch. Participants can come just for the day or the full weekend and have intimate conversations with authors and journalists whilst enjoying frabulous food and wonderful views over the Coral Sea.

Airlie Beach Music Festival: November 7th 2014
The one of a kind music festival. The Airlie Beach Music Festival dates have been confirmed and a bonus Jam Session night has been added for the three day festival ticket holders.
74 Bands playing over three days in 16 different venues throughout Airlie Beach and Cannonvale with headline acts entertaining you every night under the big top marquee at the Whitsunday Sailing Club overlooking the Coral Sea. Up and coming talent from all over Australia will be entertaining you throughout the day at licenced venues with free buses transporting you from one venue to another to listen to the music of your choice. This is a 18 Plus Event.
