She was raced by the British Armed Services during the 1989/90s in the famous "Whitbread Around The World" Yacht Race. She was custom built in Lymmington, England using the most high spec and cutting edge technology, British Defender was one of the first maxi yachts of her class to have a 115ft Carbon Fibre mast. No expense spared for the Britsh racing team. British Defender has turned heads amongst the yachting fraternity, since the day the yacht was named, by non other than the Duke of Edinburgh, the prestigous ceremony took place on the Thames River in London.
